A few years ago an individual in our area, a known schizo, stopped taking medication for a few days. Ended up pointing a rifle at a relative - the wife and kids were very close by when it happened. I think that anyone with a history of serious mental illness should not be able to purchase a firearm. I am not saying that anti-depressants constitute mental illness, but some disorders are just too serious to take the chance.
