Comments: It's much easier and politically correct to blame a firearm and those associated with firearms ownership than it is to blame criminals. Firearms don't vote (but firearms owners do). In addition, politicians know that in Canada to get tough on young offenders is a no sell in Ontario and Quebec. Firearms owners and the Conservative government need to target the misinformation campaign, set people straight on the uselessness of the registry and which types of individuals are involved in shootings. I am still amazed that an individual who owns a firearm in Canada has to relinquish his or her Charter Rights and be subject to extortion.
