My choice of the first thing to accomplish is to get the whole firearm issue out of the Criminal Code. If the goal of the government is to know who has a firearm, it doesn't need to be in the Code. The legality of whether the Feds have the right to keep a national non criminal database, I'll leave to the legal beagles to sort out.
Getting the licence, FAC, whatever it becomes into the non criminal area will also stop the other travesties we now endure such as warrantless searches.
