Comments: the simplest solution is to get rid of the rcmp's involvement in firearms regulations. they should abolish the firearms program altogether, and let the legislation stand or fall on its own. the ability to classify guns is a definite pain in the @ss issue. if not the rcmp, who should classify them? and by what process? it would be great to have that left to the federal minister, until the next leftist gov't is formed that is. the rcmp are biased and should not have a say at all. i can't think of any clear way to classify weapons in a reasonable way that cannot and will not be abused by antigun zealots... either way, vic can only muzzle the rcmp appointed FOs, not the provincial opp ones. they are gonna have to go a bit further with the new law to solidify it, or else it will be reversed the next anti gun gov't... perhaps mandating a national referendum on the issue in the future, should any significant changes be proposed by anti gun parties come up, would be a start.
